Context and purpose of the job within the organization
This position is a key role in the Global Finance Function, and will work with the finance department in North America and London reporting to the Global Controller in Richmond, VA.
This position will be responsible for the day to day finance functions of the North American operations, including timely and accurate financial reporting, planning, and treasury functions. This role is fundamental to ensuring financial controls are in place in the North American operations so that assets are protected, the use of funds is optimized, and appropriate cash flow is generated. In addition, this position will assist with the global consolidation process, including financial reporting and financial analysis. This position will work closely with other employees throughout the organization, in North America, London and Stockholm, and with banks, auditors and other third-party service providers. Main Responsibilities
- Manage on a day to day basis the finance function in North America.
- Establish policies and procedures for the North American finance operations to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and integrity of internal controls. Identify and implement process improvement initiatives for the North American finance operations.
- Work with the European Controller and other members of the European finance team to ensure consistency in policies and procedures, where applicable
- Assist with the consolidation process for the company and ensure accuracy and integrity of the consolidated financial results. Identify and implement process improvement initiatives for the consolidation procedures.
- Develop and maintain financial analyses for management review and reporting. Review and analyze monthly results for the North American operations and resolve any issues noted.
- Identify system development initiatives to improve operational and financial efficiency, and assist with the implementation of these initiatives.
- Provide U.S. GAAP expertise and accounting guidance to the Non-U.S. locations, and research ad hoc accounting issues as needed.
- Assist with the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting activities.
- Provide supervision to and assist with the career development of accounting staff in North America.

Skills
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications to perform the role:
- A CPA, with strong technical accounting and consolidation skills, and financial reporting standards
- Experience providing financial and management reporting in a corporate commercial environment
- Supervisory experience with ability to manage and motivate the team
- Ability to quickly understand the business and its key financial drivers
- Commitment to business process improvement and the use of IT and management information to raise standards and productivity
- Experience providing financial and management reporting in a corporate commercial environment
